Bored of eating same rice, chapathi, dosa, nothing to worry i come up with a old traditional breakfast Gojju Avalakki with slight changes as Avalakki(Flattened rice) puliyogre. Lets cook and taste this yummy dish.

Serves: 7 to 8
Ingredients:
500gms Flattened Rice
50gm Groundnut
25gm Bengal gram
20gm Black gram
100gm ripen Tamarind
100gm Jaggery
5tsp Vegetable oil
1tsp Mustard seeds
3tsp Sambar powder
5 dry Red Chillies
20 Curry leaves
5tsp shredded dry Coconut
3tsp coarsely chopped Coriander leaves
1pinch Asafoetida(Hing)
Salt
Water
Procedure:
1. Clean flattened rice thoroughly in water and drain the water using a strainer, try to remove as much of water from it else it would become soggy.
2. Soak tamarind in warm water and take out the pulp from it.
3. Switch on the stove and put a frying pan to heat.
4. Add oil for seizening followed by mustard, hing, red chillies, groundnut and curry leaves.
5. Later add Bengal gram and black gram sauté till it turns golden brown.
6. Add sambar powder, salt and prepared tamarind pulp, don’t stop stirring for some 5mins.
7. Add jaggery to it, let it melt completely and then add coriander leaves and dry coconut.
8. Now add the flattened rice in to the same pan and mix well.
9. Delicious Avalakki puliyogre is ready to serve.
